GB.ELIZABETH II MACHIN ULTRA-SPECIALIZED PHOSPHOR PROJECT. An impressive holding of 2nd Class NVI (no value indicated) large & small vertical & horizontal stamps used on pieces, each inspected using both UV and UV + tungsten lights and sorted into envelopes copiously annotated explaining the different colour reactions, errors (such as missing phosphors) and oddities including many not listed in the Deegam handbook. The work undertaken here is exceptional, the study utilising used stamps still on original pieces is inspired as it allowed for many more stamps from a wider array of issuing times and distribution points to be studied than if only mint stamps were selected. Appears to be around 130 different sub-types identified and the distribution of between 1 and 100+ is an interesting insight into scarcity (guestimate 5000+ stamps), also 3 boxes of on-paper 2nd class NVI stamps (many 1000's). Useful information accompanies. Lot 1826 (B) [a]
