AUSTRALIAN STATES VICTORIA - GOLD RUSH LETTER 1852 (April) entire letter with a lengthy personal message with interesting VICTORIAN GOLD RUSH related contents, addressed from Melbourne to England, bearing 1850 3d blue Half Length second state (SG 7, 3+ margins, small faults) tied by barred oval, plus "Melbourne Ship Letter" and two transit cds's on reverse. The message includes "...there are about forty thousands diggers on the field in Port Phillip is supposed to be the richest in the world...we were led by others who were deceived themselves as to the place being a rich gold field...very high rents have rose 50 percent some things two or three hundred pecent...our once quiet city is now become a scene of dissipation and bloodshed..."
